Newtown's historic meeting house, built in 1720 and moved to its present location opposite the flagpole on Main Street in 1792, served as a Congregational Church from 1852 until 1988. The classic white-steepled building was purchased by the town and now serves as a meeting place for concerts, meetings, weddings and other events. On Sundays, the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in America offers a worship service. The Newtown Meeting House is on the National Register of Historic Places.
