Located in Hartford, Conn., Thirman L. Milner Elementary School was named after the first African-American Mayor in New England. The school was constructed in 1924 and designed in neo-Gothic style. It serves students in prekindergarten through grade six. The school has two computer laboratories and provides computer classes for parents, as well as teachers. It offers services to west Indian students through the new arrival program. The school has a parent-teacher association that organizes several fundraising events. It offers success for all reading and dual language programs for students in kindergarten. Thirman L.
