Lake Mohegan, 170 acres of town-owned property at 960 Morehouse Highway, includes a freshwater lake, shade/picnic pavilion, hiking trails in which dogs are permitted to run free, fishing, a concession stand, playground equipment, restrooms and a sprinkler park that was installed by Safe Parks and Recreation for Kids, a local non-profit organization, in 2000.
There is no charge to park at Lake Mohegan or to enter the open space or hiking trails, but use of the freshwater lake, sprinkler park and restrooms requires a season pass that costs $30 for residents and $60 for non-residents. Fairfield senior citizens who do not have grandchildren can obtain a season pass for free.
Daily rates for swimming in the lake, the sprinkler park, playground equipment, concession stand and restrooms are $8 on weekdays for residents who are at least 18 years old and $10 on weekend days and holidays; $4 on weekdays for Fairfield children who are from 3 to 17 years old and $6 on weekend days and holidays; $15 on weekdays for non-residents who are at least 18 years old and $18 on weekend days and holidays; and $8 on weekdays for non-residents from 3 to 17 years old and $12 on weekend days and holidays. There is no charge for infants younger than 3 years of age.
