Grove School is a private college preparatory boarding school that serves students in grades 7 to 12 who are struggling at home or with relationships, or who have had difficulty fitting into traditional learning environments. The Grove treatment process centers on the student's relationship with adults and peers. The program is non-restrictive and allows the student to have room to make choices within appropriate boundaries. The goal is to get students to rely on their own controls, rather than just external controls of adults or the system.
Within a therapeutic environment, the students are provided with a college preparatory curriculum and with a wide range of sports options. Athletic options include martial arts, skiing and snowboarding, bowling, sailing, swimming, snorkeling, water-skiing, horseback riding, hiking, mountain climbing and fishing. Students also travel to New York, Boston and within Connecticut to take advantage of cultural events and other activities.
Applications are accepted at any time of the year and admission is granted on a rolling basis throughout the year. Richard L. Chorney is the president.
