Organized in 1942, the Gales Ferry Volunteer Fire Company is a full-service company whose members respond to fires, medical emergencies, extrication rescue efforts (such as motor vehicle crashes and confined spaces) and hazardous materials releases. Anthony Saccone is chief of the Gales Ferry Volunteer Fire Company, and the deputy chief is Ted Day. In 2010, the company took delivery of a new Ferarra/HME fire engine, which joined four other vehicles in the company's active fleet. The company is always happy to welcome new members, both social and active.
