The Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, founded in 1973, is a community of religious women dedicated to following the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. These women take vows of chastity, poverty and obedience.
The Meriden center is the motherhouse and general headquarters for the organization, which has branches around the country as well as in Italy, Jamaica, and in Bethlehem. In addition to training younger sisters, the Meriden center offers outpatient psychiatric services, adoption services, hospice and home care services, a volunteer-based land program for young people, a pottery studio and more.
