Wooster Middle School is one of two public middle schools in Stratford and is located on Lincoln Street. The school is named after David Wooster, who was born in 1710 in Stratford, and graduated from Yale College. Wooster fought in the War of 1756 and in the American Revolution he served as one of eight brigadier generals. General Wooster died in 1777 from injuries sustained in the war.
Wooster Middle School opened in 1953 on 55 acres including Wooster Park. It offers a diverse and comprehensive curriculum and has a capacity of more than 1,000 students.
