Located at the corner of West and Wadsworth streets, this church has Sunday services at 10am; Sunday school begins at 8:30am. This church first stood at Cross Street and in the early 1800s ministered to a small Middletown neighborhood of black families who owned their homes -- a rare thing in pre-Civil War America. The row of homes still stands along Vine Street. The origins of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion church date back to 1796.
