Congregation Mishkan Isreal is a progressive Reform synagogue that has been in the New Haven area for more than 150 years. The synagogue's Religious School offers programs for toddlers, youth and adults. Social community involvement is paramount to the church's mission and members are involved in initiatives such as Habitat for Humanity, food drives and helping the homeless at Columbus House homeless shelter in New Haven. Since 1990, the congregation has harvested vegetables from the community garden that are donated to soup kitchens.
