Carmel Academy opened in Port Chester, New York, in September 1998 with 24 students in Kindergarten and first grade. In 2001, this Jewish school moved to Temple Sholom in Greenwich, where it remained until 2006, when it finally moved to its permanent Lake Avenue home, on a 17-acre historic campus in the heart of Greenwich.
The school has added an additional grade each year since its founding, graduating its first eighth-grade class in June 2006. Today, the school serves more than 230 students. The academy's curriculum engages students in a close relationship with Jewish history, the Hebrew language, the people of Israel, prayer, holidays and text.
