Carelot Children's Center serves as both a daycare with an education program set to handle children from 3 months old to preschool age during school hours and those 3 months old to 12 years old when school is not in session. The center has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and offers young child education, private kindergarten and kindergarten enrichment. The center also provides after-school and summer camps for older children.
The Waterford location is one of five Carelot centers, with other locations in East Lyme, Griswold, Chaplin, Killingly and Brooklyn. The corporate office is located in East Lyme.
The center has two fenced-in playgrounds, one for older children and another for younger children.
