HistoryOur roots were a group of four neighbors interested in starting a producer-only farmers' market in the Wooster Square neighborhood, where it was easy enough to find pizza, but next to impossible to locate a fresh tomato, never mind one grown locally. Following the overwhelming success of this Saturday Farmers' Market in Wooster Square, at the invitation of various community groups, with critical support from the City of New Haven and key funding from The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, CitySeed began to operate additional producer-only markets.SpecialtiesCitySeed operates a series of vibrant, year-round Farmers Markets throughout New Haven, CT -- Wooster Square, Edgewood Park, and a brand new market at the Dixwell Q House. Our markets provide a direct connection to more than 50 Connecticut vendors, including farms, nurseries, bakeries, meat and seafood providers, cheese makers and specialty food producers. Our markets provide vital economic opportunities for regional farmers, helping to keep our local food system healthy and strong. SNAP is doubled at every market, every $1 in SNAP = $2 for Fruits & Veggies. We accept: Debit, Credit, WIC, SNAP/Food Stamps, and senior market coupons. Q-House Farmers' Market takes place on Wednesdays from 3pm to 6pm at the Q-House (197 Dixwell Avenue). Wooster Square Farmers' Market occurs on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm at Conte West Hills Middle School (511 Chapel Street). Edgewood Park Farmers' Market happens Sundays from 10am to 1pm at Edgewood Park (corner of Whalley & West Rock Avenue).
