Henry Barnard was a notable 19th century educational reformer in Connecticut. The Enfield school named in his honor is headed by principal Nancy Hayes, and also houses the administrative offices of the Enfield Public Schools. The Barnard community recognizes parents to be its child's first and most influential teacher. As partners, it utilizes a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to meet individual needs. All children are challenged to be critical thinkers, to develop their unique talents and view themselves as life-long learners.
