M.A.C. Cosmetics offers high-end "Makeup Art Cosmetics," hence the name M.A.C. It was the brainchild of a makeup artist named Frank Toskin, and an hair salon owner named, Frank Angelo. The Franks opened their first store in 1991 in New York City's Greenwich Village. They were looking for cosmetics that could endure the hot, bright lights of modeling. It was later sold to Estee Lauder in 1994. There are cosmetics for eyes, lips, face and skin care and fragrances. M.A.C. Comestics also works with AIDS-related charities.
