Ansonia Public Schools is a small urban school district located in the Lower Naugatuck Valley area in Connecticut. It has more than 2,700 students in four different schools. It includes Ansonia High School for grades nine through 12, Ansonia Middle School for grades six through eight, John C. Mead School for grades three through five and John G. Prendergast School for kindergarten through grade two. Ansonia High School has more than 700 students. The school features a large gym with seating for more than 800 students, an auditorium with state-of-the-art sound and seating for over 40 and seven computer labs. Ansonia Public Schools also operates two grant-funded programs that include an alternative education program for middle and high school students and an early education school readiness program for three and four years olds.
