When the first 7-Eleven opened in 1927 in Dallas it sold milk, bread and eggs as a means of eliminating long trips to the grocery store. It donned the name 7-Eleven from its unprecedented business hours of 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. In the years since, it has developed into an international chain, has partnered with Citgo gas stations and has greatly expanded its merchandise selection, including its own signature products, such as the Slurpee and Big Gulp.
