History
Top O' the Hill started in the summer of 2007 after Seth Nelson, then twelve years old, planted an enormous garden--about three acres in all--with his grandfather's help and encouragement. Our family of twelve, though still just a starter family, couldn't possibly consume one acre's worth of green and yellow beans, even after eating them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. And the green beans weren't the only produce--we also had sweet corn, cucumbers, watermelon and cantaloupe. Thus, we decided to sell the excess produce at a little roadside stand at the edge of our property, which is conveniently located at the corner of two busy highways--Colorado State Highways 14 and 257. That summer was just the beginning of the story, which we have been continuing ever since.
