Metro Districts of Highlands Ranch is the local government agency in Highlands Ranch, Colo. Founded in 1981, it owns and maintains a network of outdoor recreation amenities, with more than 20 parks, over 70 miles of trails and 2,000-acres of natural open space. Metro Districts works with several Douglas County organizations to ensure the safety and security of Highlands Ranch community members.
