The Pikes Peak Regional Building Department is responsible for the permitting and inspection of various construction activities in the unincorporated areas of El Paso County in Colorado. The department inspects construction work under building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and elevator codes and standards of the county. It also enforces floodplain and enumeration regulations. The Pikes Peak Regional Building Department was formed by an intergovernmental agreement between the City Council of Colorado Springs and the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners in 1966. The department provides uniform services to these jurisdictions. It licenses and registers contractors who perform work within the jurisdictions served by the department. The Pikes Peak Regional Building Department is administered by the Regional Building Commission. The department offers services for homes, schools, offices, stores and other buildings.
