The Evans Police Department works to provide a safe and secure environment, safeguards lives and property, and preserves peace through the enforcement of local, state and federal laws. It maintains K-9 and bike patrol units, as well as operates a tactical arrest and containment team that handles barricaded suspect and hostage situations, high-risk arrest procedures and hazardous events that exceed normal patrol operations. The department undertakes cases of drug abuse, domestic violence, homicide, sexual assault, and poison and animal control. The Evans Police Department conducts community outreach programs that include National Night Out, neighborhood watch, and Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.), as well as hosts a citizens police academy. It supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is a classroom program that helps to prevent drug abuse and violence among children. The Evans Police Department also maintains a sexual offender registry. It is located in Evans, Colo.
