The East Central Council of Local Governments (ECCOG) is a voluntary association of county commissioners, mayors, and town council members in Cheyenne, Elbert, Kit Carson, and Lincoln counties in Colorado. Established in the early 1970s, ECCOG aims to keep governmental decision-making at the local level and does not have taxing authority. With a governing board consisting of elected officials and private sector representatives, ECCOG works collaboratively to address issues affecting east central Colorado and provide resources and opportunities to its rural community.
ECCOG's services include the Prairie Development Corporation and the Area Agency on Aging Services, offering support and assistance to individuals of all ages. By uniting the voices of four counties and 15 municipalities, ECCOG amplifies the concerns of its members and ensures that the needs of over 30,000 people in an 8,000 square-mile area are heard and addressed at the state level. Committed to working together for the betterment of the region, ECCOG strives to achieve what cannot be accomplished by individual counties or municipalities alone.
