David VanSickle, MD, PHD, FAANS, is a board-certified neurosurgeon who sees patients at Neurosurgery One in Littleton and Lone Tree. He specializes in neurological surgery and is a leading national expert in robotic-guided Asleep Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), which allows patients to remain asleep during this procedure that is used to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, epilepsy and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He ranks among the top surgeons globally in terms of the number of these procedures he has performed, and he publishes research on the technique and trains surgeons worldwide in the technique. Dr. VanSickle has a PhD in Bioengineering, which he has used to patent medical technology and also to help ensure that leading-edge technology can be made available to patients outside of traditional academic medical centers. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), and the American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. VanSickle completed medical school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and his residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He is involved in many local non-profits and charities, including Parkinson’s Association of the Rockies.
