History
2010-Dancing Spirit Gallery opens in Ignacio CO with 13 artists 2011- Add children's classes, create annual Fill Your Bowl fundraiser 2012-Becomes Dancing Spirit Community Arts Center. Adds performances. 2014-We gain 501(c)3 status & begin a relationship with the Southern Ute Indian Tribe with tribal wellness. 2015-We collaboratively create The ELHI Community Center. 2016-We shift our focus shifts more to classes, our gallery temporarily closes. 2017-Inspiration Square created as a Change Leader Project through Colorado Creative Industries. 2018-Kasey Correia is certified as a Change Leader. 2020-We open the area's first open public pottery studio. Adult classes begin. 2020-COVID causes us to halt programming. We begin creating at home art kit & virtual classes, students take part in the Brooklyn Sketchbook Project. 2021 Camp Creative begins as one-week, in-person art camps funded by Tony Grampsas. One camp per month is held over the summer. Adult pottery restarts.

Dancing Spirit Community Art Center is a 501(c)3 that is dedicated to providing our community with programs that enhance creativity and fellowship, that promotes education, appreciation and enjoyment of the arts and that celebrates the cultural heritage of our unique population. We offer ongoing art classes for kids, adults, and families and we serve our community with programs that bring us all together, lift everyone up, and heal our pasts. From our after school and summer kids programs to our adult classes and workshops, Dancing Spirit Community Art Center has something for everyone and every ability.
