History
The State's first free university began in 1969 when student activists believed their academic courses were failing to adequately address important issues of the times. A free university is a learning network built upon the idea that each community has within it the knowledge and resources needed to solve its own problems. There is minimal hierarchy and low barriers to participation. Since 1988 Colorado Free University has continued this tradition and has become Colorado's premier continuing education resource. Our classes are open to all lifelong learners. Classes ranging from the career enhancing to the whimsical; there is something for everyone.
