History
The Chris McKelvey School of Dog Training has been operating continuously in the Roaring Fork Valley since 1982. Chris McKelvey graduated from William Woods University in Missouri with a M.S. degree in Equestrian Science, Business Administration and Art. She spent 13 years professionally training and showing horses. After years of studying top behaviorists from around the world, Chris slowly evolved her dog training techniques from the same methodology that if force cannot be used with a 1500 pound horse, then positive reinforcement and motivational methods gain better results with dogs. Since 1982, Chris has professionally trained dogs from over 30 states and has taken her own personal dogs through certification in Search and Rescue work, A.K.C. obedience and tracking titles, and therapy work. The kennel has received all-perfect/no fault state inspection evaluations, which are given to less than 5% of all boarding/training facilities.
