History
The brain child of established actress and singer Reyna Von Vett and Denver's Mother of Burlesque, Michelle Baldwin (aka Vivienne VaVoom), the Black Box Burlesque was the first theatre completely dedicated to the bawdy and wonderful art of burlesque since the 1930's. Hoping to give this vintage art form the home it truly deserves, Reyna and her husband, Al Varney along with a talented tech staff transformed the black box theatre inside the Denver Civic into a decadent red and gold showroom that transports the audience back in time the moment they step into the room... ...then the owners 'forgot' to pay the bank and we were out on our ass. Since then we've been hopping around the country, to NOLA. NYC, Seattle and now we're back in Denver at Bender's Tavern in Capitol Hill!
