Founded in 1975, the Aurora Housing Authority provides affordable housing to working families, single parents, disabled residents, senior citizens and homeless people. It owns and manages more than 750 units of rental housing, as well as manages an additional 75 rental housing units that are owned by its nonprofit affiliate, Aurora Housing Corporation. The authority administers the Section 8 voucher program that allows renters to bridge the gap between normal rent and their ability to pay. In addition, it provides subsidized and workforce housing and family assistance programs. The authority issues Essential Function Housing Bonds that are used to finance new housing projects.
