Anderson Ranch Arts Center, located in Snowmass Village, Colo., was formerly a sheep ranch that was transformed into an artists community more than 35 years ago. Established in 1966 by local artists, the barn was cleared out for studios and the gallery s first informal workshop program was inaugurated. Anderson Ranch Arts Center offers more than 130 summer workshops in subject areas, including art history and critical studies, ceramics, digital imaging, furniture and woodworking and photography. The center also offers classes in painting and drawing, printmaking, sculpture and field expeditions to more than 1,200 participants every year. Its programs begin after Memorial Day and range from two-days to three-week classes, offering various skill levels for amateur students and professional studio artists. Anderson Ranch Arts Center has a gallery that showcases artwork produced by its artists and a supply store offering art supplies and books.
