Mountain Village is a Home Rule Municipality in San Miguel County, Colorado, United States. The population was 978 at the 2000 census. The town is expanding rapidly due to the presence of the Telluride Ski Resort.
Mountain Village is just southwest of its sister town of Telluride. The elevation of the city rises above Telluride to 9,540 feet. Mountain Village is an affluent town with many cobblestone plazas. This can be credited to the ski resort which surrounds the area.
Mountain Village is known for its peaceful nature and exciting ski slopes. These slopes go all the way from easy double greens to the treacherous double blacks located at the top of mountains like Palmyra.
