History
YMCA Camp Arbolado's roots began way back in the early 1920's, when the YMCA of Greater Whittier decided to expand its activities by acquiring a lease from the US Forest Service in Big Tujunga Canyon (near Pasadena) for a camp. Severe draught forced moving the camp to the Barton Flats area of the San Bernadino Mountains in April of 1925, where it occupied portions on both sides of Barton Creek and was bound on the north side by the old State Highway 28.
