Wishtoyo Foundation is a native-led organization founded in 1997, dedicated to protecting and preserving the culture, history, and lifeways of Chumash and Indigenous peoples, as well as the environment they depend on. With the Chumash word for rainbow as its name, Wishtoyo serves as a bridge between Chumash culture, wisdom, and values, and the present-day efforts to protect our earth.
Wishtoyo operates the unique Wishtoyo Chumash Village, a living cultural village located on an 8,000-year-old historical site overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Malibu. This outdoor classroom and cultural gathering place offers an immersive learning experience, attracting approximately 7,000 visitors annually. Additionally, Wishtoyo Conservancy and Eco-Farm focus on restoration work, regenerative horticulture, and traditional ecological knowledge to support cultural learning, community gathering, and ecological recovery throughout Chumash territory and for all First Nations Peoples.
