History

We started with donated land from Jameson trust with the 1912 oil derrick, and have expanded from 5 acres to 7 acres with numerous donated buildings and artifacts.

Specialties

We are a volunteer museum which chronicles the history of oil on the Westside of Kern County.

Unless you work at the prison or are employed in the agricultural or oil sectors, you probably don't have a reason to visit Taft. There's still oil here although you won't see the over 7,000...
