VMware is a subsidiary of the EMC Corporation. VMware was established in 1998 to bring mainframe class virtual machine technology to industry-standard computers. The company delivered its first product, VMware Workstation, in 1999 and entered the server market in 2001 with VMware GSX Server and VMware ESX Server. With the launch of VMware Virtual Center in 2003 and Vmotion technology, the company established itself as a leader in the virtual infrastructure marketplace. In 2004, the company extended the capabilities of its virtual infrastructure to the enterprise desktop with the introduction of VMware ACE. A number of the world's largest organizations use the company s solutions to simplify their information technology, fully leverage their existing computing investments and respond faster to changing business demands. VMware is located in Palo Alto, Calif.
