Founded in 1979, United Food and Commercial Workers International Union is one of the leading worker's unions in North America. Based in Lancaster, Calif., the union represents more than 1.3 million workers, primarily in the retail food, manufacturing, meatpacking, retail stores, food processing and poultry industries. It supports numerous programs, including health care reform, immigration reform, living wages, retirement security, safe working conditions and the right to unionize. In addition, United Food and Commercial Workers International Union operate more than 950 local unions across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
