Originally Union Ice Company. The Union Ice Company came into being in 1882 as an amalgamation of several companies, its predecessors having first begun operations back in the gold rush and bonanza days. From an Alaskan lake like this, California received its early ice supply. Harvesting Ice at Boca, California in the early days.
