The Parks & Recreation Department operates under the government of the city of Torrance in California. Its park services division is responsible for the maintenance of city parks, trees, turf, barbecues, benches, game courts and athletic fields, as well as conducts the rehabilitation of parks. The Parks & Recreation Department s duties include the monitoring and repair of playground equipment, restroom, and park building and irrigation systems. It operates a recreation services division that provides a range of recreational and educational opportunities through after-school, aquatic, day camp, teenage, therapeutic recreation and education-based nature programs for individuals of all ages and abilities. The Parks & Recreation Department also administers sports leagues and senior citizen programs.
