Although only established in 2006, this shopping center is steeped in Laguna Beach history. Built on land that was originally occupied by The Pottery Shack where tourists and residents could find handmade pottery and collectibles. The Childs' family who were the original proprietors of the Pottery Shack decided to sell to Pier One Imports in 1972. Those plans didn't work out so the business and the property funneled back into private hands. The Pottery Shack acreage was then reinvented as a distinctive new shopping center, The Old Pottery Place. A piece of Laguna Beach commercial history is still alive and thriving with businesses in residence such as The Studio Arts Gallery, Sapphire Laguna, Sapphire Pantry, The Chocolate Soldier, Tootsies, Laguna Beach Books, and Blue-Eyed Girl.
