At Santa Monica's Rewire Project, outdoor adventure trainers flip the switch on intrinsic self-doubt, redefining what participants believe their bodies and minds are capable of. Tony, a former Marine, and Valerie, a 20-year fitness industry veteran, started the adventure fitness training program in 1995 and recoined it as the Rewire Project in 2007. Over the years, the focus of the program has evolved to become increasingly experience-based. The facilities are minimalist, as most of the work is done in the best training arena around: the great outdoors. Activities include canyoneering, sand snowshoeing and deep-water running.
