Founded in the summer of 2009, The Performing Arts Academy of Marin (PAAM) offers training and performance opportunities in dance and musical theater. The Conservatory Program offers classes for ages 2 years and up for jazz, ballet, musical theater and hip hop, which culminate in an Annual Showcase at the Marin Civic Center Showcase Theatre in May. For those interested, students may join performance groups and dance companies that attend conventions, competitions and festivals in the Bay Area and beyond.
PAAM produces various large-scale musicals that include lighting, costumes, sets and more. Summer camps and summer training programs are available as well. PAAM has also created the new Spotlight Theatre Marin. This group produces 3 -5 musicals each year. Auditions are held for teens and adults. There is no production fee and pay is available for specific roles. The inaugural Spring Awakening production, which debuted in the summer of 2012, involves a cast of adults and college and high school students.
