History
The Bernstein Institute is in a difficult position relative to negative reviews because we must protect the confidentiality of all of our patients. The challenges of establishing a healing therapeutic relationship with anyone who suffers severe emotional trauma can lead to misunderstandings. If patients are unwilling to discuss their concerns with the therapist, and then choose to publically air their feelings the therapist has no legal or ethical way to respond. For healing to occur, patients must work through traumatic experiences. If, in the middle of this often deeply painful process, a patient chooses to quit therapy, they can be left feeling angry and hurt. This is a normal reaction to an incomplete therapeutic process. It's unfortunate when a misunderstanding of therapy is aired in public in a way that it reflects poorly on a therapeutic process that has helped many others, and on practitioners who have dedicated their careers to healing the emotionally wounded.
