Founded in 1951, The Arc of San Diego is a private, nonprofit and one of the largest human service agencies in California. Located in San Diego, the agency serves individuals suffering with disabilities and their families. Its programs promote the social, economic and personal independence of members. The Arc of San Diego receives funds from state and federal governments, corporate and foundation grants, individual donors and the United Way. The agency provides a range of community living, day training, respite care and recreational programs. It has outlined multiyear plans for the renovation and construction of facilities throughout San Diego County, Calif. The Arc of San Diego is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
