Tengu, named after the Japanese god of mischief, serves up award-winning sushi and Asian fusion cuisine in the Westwood Village. The restaurant keeps a low profile on the outside, but inside often has a lively crowd at the bright red lounge bar and elegant, modern dining rooms. At the sushi bar, the chefs create original and traditional rolls, sashimi and nigiri sushi. Rolls can be customized with soy paper, served inside out, cucumber wrap, no rice, smelt eggs, avocado, tempura flakes or cream cheese. Various dishes from land and sea are also cooked in the kitchen, including baked citrus black cod, wok-sauteed Chilean sea bass, rock shrimp tempura, filet mignon, lamb chops and grilled curry chicken satay. Lunch specials are served with miso soup, salad or California roll. Grilled sourdough sandwiches are also available at lunch. Happy Hour is nightly from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. Entertainment is provided by live DJ's and Sundays feature sake at half price. Facilities are available for special events and private parties.
