The Stanford Red Barn Equestrian Center is located in the beautiful orchard area of the Stanford campus on Electioneer Road, named after a legendary Stallion "Electioneer." In 1876, Govenor Leland Stanford purchased 650 acres and continued to acquire property to the extent of 8,000 acres. Over the course of 12 years, the land consisted of two dozen buildings, 50 paddocks and eight trotting tracks.
Only two buildings from the stock farm survive today, one of which is The Stanford Red Barn. The Barn is home of the Stanford equestrian team.
