South Gate Smog is a large, test-only facility for cars and trucks. The two-garage testing center is compliant with California state smog-testing standards and provides services on a first-come basis.
Test take roughly 10 to 15 minutes and results are instant. There's an air-conditioned waiting area with a soda machine, magazines, a TV, and large viewing window. The garage can electronically submit test results to the DMV upon request.
