The South Los Angeles Health Projects is a community health services division of the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. The division operates projects related to nutrition, breastfeeding, babies and immunization. It provides a federally funded supplemental nutrition program for infants, children under the age of 5, and pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women. The South Los Angeles Health Projects also offers breastfeeding support, nutrition and health education, and counseling and referrals to health and social service providers. The organization s immunization program helps to link public and private agencies, providers, and the community to develop and implement strategies to improve immunization among Latino and African American children.
