Weights and Measures is a division of Agricultural Commissioner department of the Sonoma County. The division provides services to preserve and maintain fairness and accuracy of weighing and measuring instruments, product standards and business practices used in commerce. It offers inspection and testing services of electric, gas and water utility meters, commercially used weighing devices, gas stations, taximeters and Laundromats. Weights and Measures also provides testing of wire and rope, propane, water and oil meters, as well as car wash, parking garages and milk tank timers. The division operates quantity control program under which it conducts audit of the contents of packaged products in stores, such as meat counters, bakeries and supermarkets. Its programs are supported by the California Division of Measurement Standards and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The division is licensed by the state of California in weight, measurement, and transaction and product verification areas. Weights and Measures is located in Santa Rosa, Calif.
