Established in 1903, California Department Social Services provides aid and protect needy, helpless children and adults in ways that strengthen and preserve families, encourage personal responsibility and foster independence. Based in San Bruno, Calif., the organization operates an array of divisions, such as Community Care Licensing Division, Children and Family Services Division, Adult Programs Division and Disability Determination Service, to name a few. Its service include cash aid, food, residential care, day care, in-home care, adoption, foster care and refugee. California Department Social Services has 51 centers throughout the state and 58 county welfare departments.
