Established in 1971, Social Advocates for Youth, provides social services and assistance to youth and their families throughout the Sonoma County in California. It offers a wide range of services, including counseling, psychotherapy, family advocacy, mentoring, job training and prevention of substance abuse. The organization operates the Dr. James E. Coffee House Teen shelter and the Tamayo House, which provide short-term lodging, food and clothing services to runaway and homeless youths. The organization operates a special crisis telephone line for adolescents and their parents. Additionally, it conducts fundraising activities, such as auctions, dinners and dance parties. Social Advocates for Youth is headquartered in Santa Rosa, with offices in Healdsburg and Sonoma, Calif.
