History
Golden Umbrella began serving seniors in 1968 and was developed from a Project Find Grant to seek out isolated, needy, and disabled seniors in Shasta County and implement action to help them. A Multi-Purpose Senior Center where seniors could come together to fulfill many of their social, physical, and intellectual needs had its Grand Opening on May 17, 1970. The Shasta Senior Nutrition Program (SSNP) was formed in 1979 to assist seniors with preserving their independence by providing opportunities to receive meals and transporation services, as well as participate in activities to enhance their dignity and encourage their continued involvement in the community. Shasta Senior Nutrition Program and Golden Umbrella merged in July 2017 to become Dignity Health Connected Living.
