History
While in graduate school studying Chiropractic, Acupuncture and Eastern medicine, Daniel Hoover sought out a Tai Chi group to continue his Tai Chi practice and to share with others. At that time, the current instructor quickly looked to Daniel to help lead as he recognized he was experienced. The current instructor was ready to step down as the organizer and leader anyway, so he asked Daniel if he'd be willing to take over the class and asked him to pick any park in Long Beach. Daniel excepted and chose Signal Hilltop Park. The rest is history.
Specialties
The School of Healing Martial Arts provides unique expert instruction in both the martial arts and healing arts. Our martial arts curriculum includes Tai Chi Chuan, Shaolin Kempo, and self defense. Our unique curriculum in healing arts includes Tai Chi Chuan, and Qi Gong, with an emphasis on basic herbology, and acupuncture points for healthy energy (Qi) flow. We teach students how to defend themselves from potential bullies/attackers, as well as to defend themselves from potential diseases with our integrated health and healing approach to martial arts. This integrated approach is analogous to the interrelationship between Yin (healing energy) and Yang (martial energy). This brings us to the Yin branch of our school which our on-site integrative health clinic which provides Chiropractic and Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine. We don't just teach about these healing modalities, we provide them.
